Selma :
Imagine that you are treated less than nothing and that you are looking for a bit of freedom. Imagine that you are separated from other people, that you don't have the same rights.
So imagine that your are a black american in the USA during the 1960s.
This is the subject of the film about which I will talk, call Selma.
Do you reconize this man ? It's Martin Luther King of course who was the main character of one of the best movies I have seen which is Selma. It's a biopic and a drama. Selma was released in 2015 and was directed by Ava DuVernay. The tagline is One dream can change the world in refenrence to the famous speech of Martin Luther King which was : " I have a dream ... ". The film stars are David Oyelowo in the leading role, Tom Wilkinson, Carmen Ejogo and Ophrah Winfrey feature in the supporting roles.
My favourite actor is David Oyelowo who plays Martin Luther King because he is a really good actor and was so true to life in this movie.
This picture tells the story of a part of the incredible life of Martin Luther King who was one of the most famous leaders during the fight for Black people's civil rights. At that time, coloured people weren't allowed to vote. In this film we discovered a part of his private life and the way by which he got the civil rights for coloured people.
I find that one of the best features of Dr King was his values. In fact, he thought that the best weapon to obtain new rights was to stay peaceful.
Selma is also about discrimination and segregation that existed and that sadly still exists today like for example the separated schools or the separated jobs during that time.
Futhermore this film traces the famous " walk to freedom " between Selma and Montgomery in Alabama in 1965.
I found this film really realistic, heart-breaking and brilliant.
I enjoyed the cast ! The actors and the extras were so true-to-life !
Finally, I really loved Selma because it was from a real story and it was a tribute to all victims of racism like Emmett Till, the four little girls in the church and so many others. Selma deals with an important cause which is dear to my heart.
